Bridging the Gap:
From
Malaysia to the United States

WHAT IS
READY KE BELUM?

"Ready ke Belum?" is NAMSA’s premier pre-departure initiative, designed to empower Malaysian freshmen with the knowledge and community they need to thrive in the U.S.

Navigate Your New Chapter with NAMSA

Transitioning to life in the U.S. is an exhilarating milestone, but it comes with its own set of challenges.

"Ready ke Belum?" (Are you ready yet?) is a comprehensive info session hosted by the

National Assembly of Malaysian Students in America (NAMSA).

We bring together experts, government officials, and senior students to ensure

no Malaysian student feels alone as they prepare for departure.

What we cover:

  • Immigration & Compliance: Navigating visas and SEVIS requirements.

  • Academic Excellence: Understanding the U.S. credit system and classroom culture.

  • Life & Culture: Managing culture shock, finding Malaysian communities, and health requirements.

  • Logistics: Travel tips, packing essentials, and campus housing.

We Bring Speakers From...

On 18th July 2025, NAMSA hosted its annual "Ready ke Belum?" Pre-Departure Info Session, successfully bridging the distance between nervous anticipation and informed confidence for over 50 incoming Malaysian freshmen.

We were honored by the presence of

  • Cik Nurul Yasmin Abdullah (Director of Education Malaysia),

  • Encik Muhamad Syahrul (Education Attachés)

  • Ustaz Yahya Mahyuddin (Education Attachés)

Their words of encouragement reminded our students that they carry the pride of their nation and have a dedicated support system waiting for them in the U.S.

Miss Anis Afiqah Rashidan from EducationUSA delivered a vital masterclass on visa regulations. Her session ensured that our students understood how to maintain their legal status—giving them peace of mind to focus on their studies.

The heart of "Ready ke Belum?" has always been the

student-to-student connection.

This year, representatives from over 15 U.S. universities volunteered their time to share "real world" advice.

From navigating health insurance and local travel to overcoming culture shock and managing academic expectations, these seniors provided the kind of nuanced, first-hand perspectives that you can’t find in a brochure.

This session was more than just a webinar; it was the start of a lifelong network.

To the Class of 2029: as you begin this new chapter at your respective universities, remember that the NAMSA Welfare Team and the wider Malaysian community are rooting for you.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our guests, our volunteers, and the NAMSA Welfare Team 2025/2026 for making this initiative a resounding success.
